Let’s increase the wearable lifetime of clothes, by getting mending trending

Join the Againeries, and wear your clothes again, and again, and again.

Learn how to mend with our stylish shorts (watchables, not wearables), save money on clothes, and be part of a sustainable fashion movement bigger than ourselves. Full website coming soon.

btw, if you can lace a shoe you can mend. It really is that easy. Stick around and we’ll show you.

Why care?

Are you weary of clothing’s: water use, fastness, fuel, freight, biodegradability, greenwashing, and lack of wearer testing? Us too.

For the changemakers

Be in the know: and enjoy behind-the-scenes insights about circular textile downcycling, op-shop intel, and textile-tales from our spy in the mills. Our time volunteering in textile recyclers, and taking with technical textile specialists has been enlightening. We’ll be sharing this intel here in the weeks ahead.

Avoid false economies, no-one likes to feel hoodwinked, and there are plenty of greenwashable-hoods in the world of apparel. We want to feel like we’re making informed buying decisions, and if you’re the same – we’ll share this information with you too.

It’s time for change! People pushed away from mending for a variety of reasons, but the good news is we’re bringing it back. Be warned: we are reluctant sewers and crafters – so what you’re about to see will be simple, minimal, neutral, fun and streamlined. We don’t have time for ruffles (well, other than maybe ruffling some industry feathers).

Connecting fast fashion dots:

Water-footprint Visionaries: When Againeries see a 100% Cotton T.shirt they see up to 1,200L of water, plus trucks and fuel and farmers and everything it took to put those microns on that torso. With 2 Billion 100% Cotton T.shirts produce globally, that is an astounding use of water – and we haven’t even got started talking about dyestuffs and colour fastness learnings. Stay tuned for more.

Scale: Around 8 Billion t-shirts are manufactured each year, by an industry that produces over 100 Billion clothing garments annually; meanwhile, op-shops are bursting at the seams, and circular textile and downcycling depots are freighting and shredding perfectly wearable clothes.

As the inheritors of tomorrow: we’re cheering on Alphas, Zoomers and Millennials who are expecting more from brands and turning a corner on the ‘is this worth fixing?’ conversation. The answer will soon be yes, because dumping and disposal costs will be coming for us all.

Let’s go from weary to wearing.

time to wear

The best thing we can all do to make our wardrobes sustainable is to actually wear our clothes. If you simply wear your clothes again, and again, and again, and again, and again, for years and years, then you are truly awesome.

If you agree with this ethos, be sure to check out upcoming polls and our social channels – where we will be champions of wearability.

time to care

When we understand how clothes are made, and how to care for them, we can give them the best life ever. If you’re keen to learn more, check back regularly as we share more about caring for clothes to help them last longer.

This will include articles on everything from fabrics, to folding, to fastness nous. Find out why Navy fades, and pink goes yellow.

doh! A tear

Rip or R.I.P – you be the judge. Of course there eventually comes an end of life moment for any garment – BUT, wherever possible, we urge people to 10x 100x or 1000x the wearable lifetime of clothes and textiles.

After volunteering in circular downcycling , attending Waste Minimisation conferences, and working in charity, we’re leading a rethink.
